Day 12: Dress for Fall

It was pretty funny and ironic that our lesson was titled "Dress for Fall" and it was literally in the 90's that day.  But we still had a great time learning about what we wear in the Fall.

After our welcome song and reviewing the letter "F" and our word of the week "Friendship" we went right into our lesson.  We talked about the 4 seasons.  The kids seem to really know what Summer is, but not really the other seasons.  Hopefully they know what Fall is now!  Everyone brought their own jackets and we talked about how lucky we are to have warm clothes for when it gets very cold.

Here they are hiding in their sweatshirts/jackets.  :-)

Jack didn't sit on the couch with the others, but he stayed close by the others for the lesson portion and was very happy!

We played "Simon Says" so the kids each had their own pile of clothes (a warm hat, a sweatshirt, and a warm pair of socks) and would hold up a specific article of clothing when I said "Simon Says".  Lucy was kind of the only one who got the concept of the game.  Haha!

Here they are showing their warm Fall clothes.  Ethan was having fun flipping around on the side (notice Ethan here and the last photo.)  :)

We read this book and the kids were totally into it.  A great "Fall" book!

Then we had a yummy snack of tortilla chips, shortbread cookies, and apples.  I wanted to do the warm cider idea but the weather was just too hot to make a warm drink!

We all headed outside for the next portion of the lesson and that's when things got a little....well, let's just say....dramatic.  Ethan, Mason, London, and Lucy ran outside but Jack was not into that idea.  So while I stayed upstairs to try to get him to join us, apparently there was other stuff going on outside that I missed.  I looked out there and Ethan was crying and the other three were standing around him.  I ran down to find out what happened.  I still don't really know what happened.  Some stories were told but I don't know who was telling the truth.  Ethan was tough and was happy again but we all came back inside because I didn't want to leave Jack alone.  So we tried playing the games that I wanted to do outside, inside.

 Playing "Red Light Green Light".

Still playing "Red Light Green Light".  (Caught Mason and Ethan mid-blink.  Haha!)

Attempted "Duck Duck Goose".

 Didn't work so well....oh well!

There was some crying and kicking going on and things got a little crazy for a while.  Since it was so hot, we had popsicles out on the balcony!  They loved that.  That's why we brought our messy T-shirts so that we wouldn't drip all over our nice clothes.  :)

After popsicles, rather than try to do what I had planned, everyone did free play for a bit.

 Jack enjoys puzzles!

This was so cute.  Ethan and London sat for a long time playing together so nicely with legos.  :)

And that was our "Dress for Fall" day!
